Xander Koolman
Xander Koolman is a well-respected Health Economist with years of experience in institutional economics and applied health econometrics/biostatistics. He has a keen interest in combining quantitative research and health economic policy to evaluate health care systems and provider efficiency and equity. Xander received his PhD in Health Economics from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, where he also worked as a Researcher and Assistant Professor. He completed his Master's degree in Economics cum laude from Maastricht University and studied at the Harvard School of Public Health. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor of Health Economics and head of the health economics section at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is also a former Associate Partner at SiRM/Equalis, where he advised government authorities and healthcare stakeholders on health economic policy and research. Additionally, Xander was a member of the methodological expert group at Zorginstituut Nederland, an Harkness Fellow at The Commonwealth Fund, a former member of the supervisory board at Stichting Boog, and, as director of the healthcare program, worked at the Talma Institute at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
