James Drakes is an intrinsically motivated software engineer, known for delivering high-quality work and taking on new challenges with enthusiasm. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering.

Drakes began his career as an Electrical Engineering Co-Op at L-3 Integrated Systems Group before transitioning to software engineering. He has held various software engineering roles, including Software Engineer II at Cisco Data and Analytics Group, Software Engineer (Full Stack) at uStudio, and Backend Services Lead and NodeJS Architect and Engineer at IdealSpot.

At IdealSpot, he took over as the Backend Services Lead and designed, implemented, and maintained all backend services. Additionally, he has worked as a lead User Interface designer on several projects, including creating an analytics dashboard for a smart city, a user interface for displaying anomalies during manufacturing, and a user interface for viewing real-time data from a milling machine.

Drakes' expertise in software engineering is paired with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills that make him an effective team player and leader. He is constantly seeking opportunities to learn new skills and expand his knowledge base.

In his next role, Drakes is looking for opportunities to work on diverse assignments, expand his skill set, and become proficient in a variety of technologies. His long-term goal is to become the CTO of his own company.
