Merten Sievers

Merten Sievers is a seasoned professional with 20 years of experience in enterprise development, market systems, and job creation.

He currently leads a team at the International Labour Organization (ILO) focusing on pro-poor value chain and market systems development, business management, women entrepreneurship, and inclusive market approaches for livelihoods of refugees and host communities.

Merten holds a Diploma from Deutsches Institut fuer Entwicklungspolitick, an MSc from the University of Hamburg, and has studied at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

His career highlights include roles such as Global Coordinator for Value Chain Development and Entrepreneurship, Value Chain Development and Business Services coordinator, Programme Officer for Enterprise Development, and various consultancy positions in countries like Panama, Bolivia, and Italy.

Prior to his current role, Merten served in different capacities at the ILO and Universität Hamburg, showcasing a strong background in the field.

His expertise lies in creating sustainable market systems, supporting small and medium enterprises, promoting women's entrepreneurship, and fostering inclusive markets for marginalized communities.
