Proving strategic marketing and communications support to the Director of Communications of Students Affairs in an interim capacity including:

• Overseeing the implementation of a new SMS/text messaging platform. Developing best practices and organizational procedures to leverage the platform across numerous departments. 

• Participating in communications benchmarking analysis to evaluate and iterate off of learnings from like-peer institutions in the areas of support model, budgets, project workflow and analysis. 

• Interfacing with third-party technology vendors and campus sponsors on business agreements, communication strategy and deliverables.

Interim Assistant Director, Marketing Communications Strategy

Led marketing and communications strategy for student-service and revenue-generating departments at the world’s #1-ranked public university, including admissions & enrollment, events and conferences, recreational sports, and more. Worked collaboratively with diverse creative teams – providing clear concise direction while incorporating input from internal and external stakeholders – to deliver dynamic digital marketing, social media, email, print campaigns and web campaigns.
  
• Facilitated the research, implementation and marketing of new automated chatbot service supporting students across 6 core departments delivering over 13,000 engagements per month. 

• Managed cross-functional campaign to prevent enrollment melt and highlight key support services, guidelines (often with short lead times) and opportunities for engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly to underrepresented communities who were most at-risk during this crisis.  

Oversaw numerous complex website redesigns and migrations to a divisional content-management system (CMS) – identifying and delivering on key partner objectives while balancing strict deadlines and compliance standards. Helped to establish process refinements and provide consultation to peers on similar web projects. 

• Established an alternative support model for one of the divisions largest departments – including procedures for project evaluation and intake, along with opportunities and resources for partners to self-service with templates and leverage targeted digital communication opportunities – to reduce staff workload and reinvest efforts in key business objectives. 

• Coordinated the development of the  brand identity for the campus’ key revenue generating events and conferences department. Helped launch dynamic digital marketing campaigns to establish the new brand and drive sales, while providing timely metric reports to key stakeholders.

Marketing Communications Manager

Created and implemented comprehensive communications campaigns, internal and external, to market highly visible departments on the UC Berkeley campus. Counseled executive leadership on all aspects of communications, including strategic planning and media/crisis communications. 

• Pioneered a new digital-focused and data-driven marketing strategy for high-value summer programs and services that drove over $2 million in revenue, while realizing a 30% savings in the marketing budget.

• Managed the solicitation and implementation of a new e-commerce platform. Vetting third-party vendors and establishing best practices for web-integration, sales copy, automated consumer messages and metrics/reporting. 

• Interfaced with local media for UC-system’s first gender-neutral locker room project with story placements and coverage in the San Francisco Chronicle, Sacramento Bee, ABC7, Fox 40 among others. 

• Oversaw a comprehensive website redesign focusing on responsive website design principles and improved content strategy.

Communications Manager

Provided marketing strategy and project oversight in a fast-paced environment ensuring compliance with brand standards, while adhering to deadlines and key budget constraints. Led a diverse staff of 17 including senior graphic designers, a website manager, social media and event coordinator, marketing editor and assistants and photographers. 

• Facilitated integration of diverse staff and strategies as part of organization realignment with UC Davis bookstore and retail operation. 

• Oversaw communication strategy for multi-million dollar construction and renovation project to campus’ primary student hub. 
 
• Crafted and executed organizational brand awareness campaign that saw significant adoption and remains in place today.

UC Davis - Campus Recreation & Unions and UC Davis Stores

Assistant Director of Communications & Marketing

Developed strategic program goals, integrated marketing campaigns, and award-winning marketing collateral in areas and media including: social media, print graphic and publication design, web design, direct mail and email marketing. Supervised a twelve-person student staff, providing direction and development training. 

• Created organization-wide social media guidelines and strategies which expanded brand awareness and increased customer engagement across 7 distinct presences totaling more than 6,000 users. 

• Generated content, copy edited and oversaw the expansion of targeted monthly email campaigns reaching over 78,000 users. 

• Led content and design strategy for annual report publication that was awarded 1st place for publication and brochure design by a national professional association.

Marketing Coordinator

Oversaw, in collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator, the visual identity and brand direction of the recreation & leisure department on the UC Davis campus. Developed creative design solutions while managing a team of graphic and web designers and contract photographers.

Design Manager

Provided technical assistance to students and faculty for programs and platforms including–Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, as well as both Macintosh and Personal Computer (PC) operation systems. Managed an inventory of educational media. Wrote curriculum for and taught a staff training seminar on Adobe InDesign and design publications.
