Julia Biswas is a data journalist and undergraduate student at Stanford University, where she is studying computer science, journalism, and comparative studies in race and ethnicity. With a passion for uplifting women and queer people of color, fighting for liberation, and engaging in community relief efforts, Biswas has honed her skills in graphic design and data visualization to make data more accessible and shareable. In addition to creating data visualizations and raising awareness about sociopolitical issues on social media, Biswas conducts research and develops data models for progressive congressional representatives and candidates. Her goal is to amplify the voices of marginalized folks and hold governments and institutions accountable through a combination of computational and journalistic skills.

At The Stanford Daily, Biswas worked as a data beat reporter and campus workers beat reporter, developing skills in data analysis, investigative reporting, and news writing. She has also worked as a research intern at Stop AAPI Hate and a researcher at Brand New Congress. In addition, Biswas has experience as a digital creator on Instagram and as CEO and cofounder at Luna Y Sol Bracelets, where she developed skills in social media marketing and entrepreneurship.

With skills in data journalism, software engineering, and investigative reporting, Biswas is seeking opportunities to make a positive impact on society through her work. In particular, she is interested in uplifting marginalized communities, holding governments accountable, and combining data and technology to support social justice initiatives.
