Michiel van Staaveren is an experienced Maatschappijleer (Social Studies) teacher with a diverse educational background. He completed his VWO (Pre-University Education) in the Economie & Maatschappij (Economics & Social Sciences) track at the Bonhoeffer College. He then continued his education at the University of Twente, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Bestuurskunde (Public Administration), a Minor in Psychologie (Psychology), and two Master of Science degrees in Leraar Maatschappijleer (Social Studies Teaching) and Public Safety Policy respectively.

Throughout his career, Michiel has taught Maatschappijleer at various schools, such as the Bonhoeffer College, Pius X College, and Vechtdal College. He is passionate about teaching students on maatschappelijk gebied (social matters), politics, rechtsstaat (rule of law), and burgerschap (citizenship) in a changing society. Michiel is motivated to help students find their place in society and support their own motivation to learn.

Michiel is a leergierig (eager to learn) and gemotiveerd (motivated) teacher. His expertise in bestuurskunde, sociologie, politicologie (political science), and (sociale) psychologie (social psychology) has allowed him to transfer knowledge and skills effectively to his students. He is curious about what motivates people in their thinking and behavior and believes that people can achieve more through cooperation. Prior to his teaching career, Michiel gained management and coordination experience as a Management Trainee at Ambiq and a Coördinator at Vereniging voor Wijkwelzijnsvoorzieningen Hengelo. He was also an Adviseur (advisor) at Variya and a Helpdesk agent at KPN.
