Build Automation & Infrastructure Engineer

Working iteratively with designers, creating specifications, modules and designguidelines. Through this process implemented the well-received Compass redesign.Architected and transitioned the product, moving from a prototype to amodular, scalable, API oriented data collection application. Users no longer have tofill out a 45 minute survey to view their benchmarks, rather using OAuth they can provide uswith access to over 20+ different services, such as Google Analytics, QuickBooks, Stripe, etc.which we then use to collect data. Tightly coupled collection and display components wereseparated and an asynchronous  web application was built.

Designed, built and marketed the QuietThyme cloud ebook manager. Created a profitable application within 2 months of initial release with 300+ users and almost 3000 books. Provided integration with multiple cloud storage providers including Amazon S3 and Dropbox. Created a web ebook reader in Javascript which is used thousands of times a month. Reviewed by CNet, MakeUseOf, niche ebook blogs such as DearReader and multiple foreign tech blogs such as WWWhatsNew.	Provide consulting services for large corporations, designed, developed and maintained critical web applications used by hundreds of clients every day. Built IOS applications for use in corporate environments, with various authentication methods, including OAuth, SAML and PubCookie. Created an installer for an offline web application used by more than 30 sales personnel across western Canada.

Worked in a software architect capacity designing custom web applications following best practices for interactivity, cross-browser support and flexibility in an Agile project management environment. As part of a 20 person team, I helped develop the award winning University of Alberta Institutional site in Sitecore.Built the social media web service for the Campus Maps. Using WPF, OAuth and OpenID I was able to integrate some of the largest social networks with the Campus Map, which is viewed over 30,000 times a day. 	Implemented a campus wide Google calendaring system which extends Google functionality to support custom event categories, location information and aggregates over 20 faculty campus event calendars into one Institutional calendar. 	Created multiple Sitecore modules that are used throughout the 300+ faculty and department websites hosted on the University of Alberta Sitecore CMS installation. 	Built a web voting application for the Graduate Students Association, which is used twice yearly by the more than 7000 members of the GSA. 	Developed a Campus wide notification system allowing University Administrators, Deans, Directors and Chairs to keep the more than 50 thousand students and staff informed about current issues using multiple weekly summary and action-required subscriptions.

Web Application Developer - University Web Strategy

Designed and developed iOS applications and Dot Net web applications. iOS applications were written using the iOS SDK and XCode. Applications included integration with client website services using REST, to allow large scale secure credit card deposits, and sqlite database driven utility applications which consumed web services. Worked with hard deadlines, following Rapid Application Development practices. Obj-C was the main language used for iOS development; however legacy C++ modules were heavily modified to work with the Apple hardware.

Provided technical and business process recommendations on software development projects and completed the development, implementation and maintenance of applications and relational databases. Provided recommendations to aid in defining initial project scope and timelines, developed workflow models, and provided technical direction to project team. Helped demonstrate project implementations and train the requesting unit in the use of the solution. Wrote SQL queries for application data storage and generated automated reports. Developed an internal Access VBA application with a SQL backend that is used on a daily basis by a 10 person Employee Relations team. Developed large report sets for use by various sub-departments, displaying their SQL data in a user friendly report. 	Maintained the heavily trafficked University of Alberta Careers website.	Replaced the aging Forms cabinet with a web wizard which helped visitors to the HRS website filter and determine which of the hundreds of HR forms they need to fill out to complete their task, decreased the number of phone requests for documents by 50%.
