Amy Mlinar is an accomplished planetary scientist, educator, and mentor with a wealth of experience in scientific research, academic leadership, and non-profit management. She graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Planetary Science and later earned a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Colorado Boulder. Amy's scientific expertise lies in the formation and evolution of solid planetary bodies, including Earth's Moon, the icy satellites of the outer Solar System, and exomoons. She has served on various committees and expert groups, including the National Academies Intelligence Science and Technology Experts Group and the committee on Planetary Protection for Icy Bodies.

Amy has also made significant contributions as an educator and mentor, especially to gifted students and researchers. She is the Chief Academic Officer of The Summer Science Program, Inc., the longest-standing independent summer enrichment program for high school students in the United States. In this role, Amy oversees program effectiveness, directs expansion into genomics, recruits and retains faculty, and pursues fundraising opportunities. Before joining SSP, Amy served on the SSP Board for over ten years, gaining valuable experience in non-profit management and governance.
