Jeff Ho

Jeff Ho is a highly accomplished data scientist, researcher and product manager, with a strong background in civil and environmental engineering. Jeff is an expert in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, bash, SQL, R, and Matlab, as well as tools like Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn, and LightFM. He has hands-on experience in machine learning, statistics, and data analysis, specifically in Linear/logistic regression, Regularization, Dimensionality Reduction, Hypothesis testing, Collaborative filtering, Random forest, LASSO, Ridge, PCA, and CNNs.

Jeff is a former Data Science Manager at Known, where he worked on data-driven solutions to improve business performance, using advanced techniques such as predictive modelling and personalized marketing. Prior to Known, Jeff was a Data Science Fellow at Insight Data Science, a Director of Science and Product at Cloud to Street, and a PhD Researcher at Standford University, where he used satellites imagery to develop a scalable algorithm for detecting harmful freshwater algae and understanding how climate change affects freshwater resources with machine learning. Jeff's extensive experience also includes roles as MS Researcher at Standford University, Software Product Tester at Trimble Navigation, Water Resources Engineering Assistant at HydroGeoLogic, Inc., among others.

Jeff holds a PhD, an MS in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Standford University, and a BASc in Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He has published research articles in leading scientific journals, such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and the Environmental Science & Technology.
