The Heroku Lifecycle team is responsible for the services that provide several parts of the Heroku experience, including: Heroku CI, Pipelines, ‘git push heroku master’, Heroku Stack Images, Container support, Metrics, Threshold Alerting, & Autoscaling (to name a few).

The Heroku Operational Experience team’s primary objective is to help users maintain their applications in a healthy state. We strive to provide meaningful data and insights that facilitate problem identification and resolution in a way that supports users with varying roles and levels of expertise. To that end we collect, surface, and act upon operational data for customers running on Heroku. The team works closely with customers and customer facing teams to identify and evaluate opportunities that further enhance the overall experience of operating applications on Heroku.

Assisted the Heroku Operational Experience team with their Go codebase, planning and related tasks.

As part of the Heroku Build & Languages team I launched the Go programming language on the Heroku platform, making it an officially supported language along with Ruby, NodeJS, Python, PHP & Java.

I provided internal Go consulting and best practice guidelines.

As the founding Engineer of Heroku's Telemetry team I designed and launched Heroku's initial metrics backend while maintaining existing legacy logging systems and data flows.

The metrics backend was used to deliver application metrics to Heroku customers enhancing their visibility into the operations of their Heroku applications.

As part of Heroku's Foundation team I simplified our complex internal logging pipeline allowing greater logging reliability for customers and relieving engineers pager burden while also helping to maintain components used by other engineering groups to operate the Heroku platform.

As part of Heroku's Postgres team I was responsible for the operations of several thousand systems running postgres on AWS. I delivered the first viable implementation of multi-tenant postgres servers (multiple postgres servers on the same server) leading to the launch of the very popular Crane and Kappa addons. These addons significantly increased monthly revenue.
