Marcus Lofthouse is a highly experienced and successful user experience and product design leader with a proven track record of managing teams in software development companies, startups, and consulting firms. He specializes in user task analysis, natural language processing (NLP), cognitive linguistics, perception, and embodiment theory.
With a Master's degree in Information Science, Information Architecture, and Knowledge Management from Kent State University, Marcus started his career as an information architect in his own firm, LofthouseDesign. From there, he moved on to work on various leadership positions, such as Head of Product Design/User Experience at Audible (an Amazon company), Director of Experience Design at Huge, Senior Director of Product Design/User Experience at Yodle, and User Experience Manager at Mandiant.
Currently, as Chief Product Officer at OkCupid, a leading online dating platform, he manages product, design, user research, customer experience, and voice user interface (UI) functions. Apart from his day job, Marcus blends his cognitive linguistics and AI knowledge to solve classical music search experience problems using NLP and NLU technologies.
In addition to his extensive experience in user experience design, Marcus holds a BM in Music Composition and Theory from Oberlin College, reflecting his interest in the intersection of music and technology.
