Ciro Donalek is an accomplished computing scientist, machine learning and data visualization expert. He has expertise in creating innovative solutions that leverage big data, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality. Throughout his prolific career, he has made significant contributions to various exciting fields such as space exploration, astronomy and biomedical research. He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Sciences and Informatics from Napoli's Federico II University and an M.Sc in Computer Science from Salerno University.
Dr. Donalek has extensive research experience and has authored over 100 published technical papers in leading scientific journals such as IEEE Big Data, Neural Networks, Nature, and Bioinformatics. He has also received several awards for his research work, including being awarded a Minor Planet named in his honor for his contributions in celestial body classification. His passion and curiosity have led him to explore and employ Virtual Reality to develop immersive and interactive machine learning and data visualization techniques. He is the co-founder and CTO of Virtualitics, where he leads his team's efforts to implement cutting-edge artificial intelligence solutions in industries such as engineering, finance, and healthcare.
Dr. Donalek has held several positions relating to his academic and professional interests, including serving as a Visiting Researcher at California Institute of Technology and a Research Fellow at Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. He has also worked as a Senior Post-Doc and a Computational Staff Scientist at California Institute of Technology. He has had the fortune of working on several revolutionary projects such as the building of the largest astronomical image in the world, the Big Picture, which is exhibited at Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.
