I worked in the Development Department managing all of our donor events. I was the main point of contact for all donor related events including opening night dinners, cocktail receptions and behind the scenes tours. I also worked on our community based events and implemented new membership programs at the company. I managed a committee and our Board of Directors to plan Theatre Ball, our annual fundraising gala which included performances, an auction, a raffle, dinner and a dance party. My portfolio included booking venues, confirming technical requirements, artists relations, marketing creation, table selling, sponsorship acquisition and donor tracking.

Over a year I planned out a family reunion for 130 people. I managed all aspects of the reunion, including correspondence among attendees, budget, programming events, booking entertainment, organizing food and beverage and liaising with the venue space.

Up A Lazy River Family Reunion

I worked closely with our neighbourhood stakeholders including local businesses, residents and the City of Toronto to successfully market the neighbourhood. I was the lead for two of our major festivals, Music in St. James Park (a weekly free concert series throughout the summer) as well as the King East Design District festival (an art and design event showcasing furniture design stores) and worked closely on our other major events the Feast of St. Lawrence (a three-day festival celebrating the food and culture in Old Town Toronto) and Shakespeare in the Park (free outdoor immersive theatre) as well as other community events throughout the year. I managed all aspects of these events from programming, sponsorship, marketing, budget and logistics. I performed daily administrative tasks such as website updates, social media, member communications, light bookkeeping and office management.

For this full-time contract job, I worked on various aspects of the government agency’s annual conference, including managing all speakers, sponsors, marketing and any web updates, as well as assisting in all logistical planning.

Achilles Media Ltd. produced major media-industry-related events each year, including the renowned Banff World Television Festival, the New-York-based documentary film conference, History Makers, and the groundbreaking new media conference, nextMEDIA. I managed all aspects of the company’s event team including programming, budgeting, awards, marketing, operations and sponsorship and creating social-media campaigns.

I oversaw a team creating and programming events to enlighten and entertain some 5000 incoming students at Ryerson University in the fall of 2009. Events included street festivals and concerts that filled Yonge-Dundas Square and required careful co-ordination of street closures and public permits. I created new ideas for online social networking, competitions and advertising to get students involved before coming to Ryerson, and developed post-orientation programming to engage students once the school year was underway.

While still enrolled at the university, I took a part-time job assisting the Facilitator of Campus Activities and Events in the planning and coordination of large and small-scale events (attendance ranging from 50 – 2,500 people), and co-chaired the school’s Orientation Events Committee.
