Frederico Aires da Silva

Frederico da Silva is an accomplished Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator with a strong background in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Frederico completed his PhD at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, and his doctoral work showcased the potential of rabbit-derived single-domain antibodies for therapeutic applications, allowing him to co-found a start-up biotech unit, TechnoAntibodies, focused on developing sdAbs. From 2008 to 2013, Frederico served as Scientific Unit Manager at TechnoAntibodies, where he led activities toward the discovery of therapeutic sdAbs for several human diseases, earning recognition as one of the Deloitte's Technology fast 500 companies in the EMEA region. Frederico later applied for and secured the competitive FCT Investigator Program in 2013, ultimately returning to academia in 2014 to establish his own group and pursue research interests in developing future generations of antibody therapeutics for infectious diseases, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders. In addition, he serves as co-founder and executive board member of the Collaborative Laboratory (Co-Lab) Vector B2B at VectorB2B- Drug Developing Services, previously working as a scientific advisor at TechnoPhage, SA, and visiting scientist at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Health Institute (NIH), USA.
