Marita von Weissenberg
Marita von Weissenberg is an accomplished scholar in the fields of medieval European social and religious history, with a particular focus on hagiography and the representation of gender and masculinity in late medieval biographies of saints. She holds a PhD in Medieval History from Yale University, and completed her MA in History, Medieval Studies, and Latin at Åbo Akademi University.
With a proficiency in several languages, including Swedish, Finnish, English, French, Italian, and Latin, von Weissenberg has an impressive range of linguistic skills that allow her to conduct research and analyze historical sources in their original languages.
She has served as a Visiting Assistant Professor and currently holds an Assistant Professor position at Xavier University, where she teaches courses related to medieval history, religious studies, and gender studies. Her expertise in the representation of gender in medieval hagiography has led to speaking engagements and guest lectureships at various institutions, including Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen.
