Johanna Spinks
Johanna Spinks is a highly esteemed portrait artist based in Los Angeles. Over her 20-year career, she has become renowned for her masterful oil paintings, whose subjects have been featured in museums, galleries, and private collections all around the world. Spinks' education in oil portraiture under the mentorship of eight-time presidential portrait artist Everett Raymond Kinstler, N.A. at the Art Students League of New York, has helped her become the successful artist she is today. The New York Times, American Artist Magazine, International Artist Magazine, Where Women Create, American Art Collector, and Art Talk have all profiled Spinks' award-winning work, and she has appeared on TV and radio shows such as L.A. TALK Live and OurVentura TV. Spinks has also earned many distinctions and accolades, including several awards from Oil Painters of America National shows, The Portrait Society of America Ambassador Certificate of Achievement, and The California State Senate. In addition, her solo exhibitions at the Museum of Ventura County, which featured "The Face of Ventura" and "Going Under The Knife," have received critical acclaim. In both citywide projects, Johanna worked with local newspapers to paint and interview sitters to display the paintings' authenticity. Recently she did a solo show named “The Face of Malibu,” introducing 60 life portraits, including four town mayors and California State Senator Henry Stern. All these achievements have made Spinks one of the most sought-after portrait artists in Southern California.
