This role was newly created and operates within the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) which resides under the Auxiliary Services Corp. (ASC) on campus. The OSP is responsible for providing significant benefits to the University by helping to further its educational, research and community service mission by facilitating research (extramural and intramural) and other projects that enrich the scholarly endeavors of faculty and students. While OSP serves to enhance the services provided by the University, its core function is to assist CSUF faculty and staff in developing and administering funded projects.  Our services provide more flexibility with an entrepreneurial framework to carry out these activities not normally provided for in the state budget, eliminating undue governmental restrictions.  ​OSP also ensure the responsible stewardship of sponsored funds to guarantee efficiency and cost effectiveness in ASC operations.  All procedures and actions are designed to conform to federal and state laws and regulations, CSU, University and Auxiliary policies.

This internship role was heavily research-based and completed under my international finance professor at CSUF. The crowdfunding industry has been around since 2003 through donation- and reward-based crowdfunding. In 2016, it was expected that the SEC would finalize the JOBS Act after 3 1/2 years of deliberation, enabling equity crowdfunding for small businesses and startups. At GFS Inc. we collaborate with the on-campus SBDC to assess, qualify, strategize and work through the complications faced during the early phases of an crowdfunding campaign. Today, crowdfunding consists of a unique blend of marketing, computer science, finance, data analytics, and the creativity needed to drive and support successful projects in this dynamic industry.

As a Student at Large of the Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) Committee, I was responsible for collaborating with a diverse team of student leaders and campus faculty to effectively allocate the $3 million annual budget deployed across 101 programs. This budget was allocated to professors to integrate applied learning to the education of all colleges on campus. I had the responsibility to assess and vote to approve or deny budget presentations from campus professors alongside our committee members.The annual budget presentations by professors outlined the program the professor planned to develop and implement to allow students to earn unique, hands-on experience in their field of study while attending college.
