Ellen Jorgensen is a highly accomplished molecular biologist, citizen science advocate, and Chief Science Officer at Aanika Biosciences, Inc. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from New York University and has had an extensive career in both academia and the private sector. Prior to her current role, Ellen founded Biotech Without Borders and was President Emeritus at Genspace NYC, a nonprofit community biology laboratory. Ellen has also served in leadership positions at Vector Research Ltd, the Albert Sabin Vaccine Institute, Antioxidant Pharmaceuticals, and Lifecodes Corporation.
Ellen is a seasoned science communicator and is dedicated to promoting science literacy and public engagement with science. She is a passionate advocate for democratizing science and serves as an inspiration to the next generation of young scientists. Her work has garnered national and international media attention, and she has been featured in prominent media outlets such as The New York Times, CNN, and NPR. Ellen is also a THNK School of Creative Leadership alumna, where she developed her skills as a visionary leader.
