Tim Tonella is a seasoned business leader with over 16 years of experience in executive recruitment, search, placement, and team building for venture capital-backed companies in the technology and cleantech space. He holds an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a B.A. in English/Math from the University of Illinois.

As the CEO of Matchstar Venture Search, Tonella's focus is to help board members and portfolio companies build high-performing teams essential for meeting critical milestones. He has hands-on experience in building executive teams, starting and selling tech businesses, financially restructuring companies, and leading revenue generation efforts as a sales contributor, executive management, and chief executive officer.

Tonella's expertise also includes board consulting and succession planning for businesses of all sizes. He has served as a strategic advisor and board member for a range of companies, such as Farrington Pharmaceuticals, Eyeona/Pricetector, Tax & Financial Group, and Gabzebo USA/Suite Memories Video Booths. Tonella was also the President and co-founder of Priceprotectr.com and the CEO of JRX Biotechnology. His career has included executive roles at Merrill Corporation, Bowne Financial, and RR Donnelley, where he helped drive capital markets transactions, bizdev, sales, and international information services and software.
