Megan Lucero
Megan Lucero is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in data journalism and investigative reporting. She obtained a Master of Arts in International Journalism from City University London and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and English from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Lucero is currently the Director of the Bureau Local, a well-established network of more than 800 collaborators in 100 areas throughout the UK. The organization aims to produce one-of-a-kind investigative stories that create a positive impact on local communities. Megan's work has been described as one of the most positive and effective interventions in local journalism in the UK.
Before joining the Bureau Local, Lucero was the Data Journalism Editor at The Times and Sunday Times, where she spent five years working her way up from an intern to the Head of Data for two newspapers. Her expertise in computational methods allowed her to break stories like Russian doping in the Olympics and World Championships.
Throughout her career, Megan has also worked as a Story Producer and Researcher on the Times foreign desk, a News Reporter at Santa Barbara Independent, a Digital Manager at Ann Louise Bardach, and a Deputy Editor at Food and Home Magazine.
