Christy Adams is an accomplished musicologist and Assistant Professor of Musicology at The University of Alabama School of Music. With a Ph.D. in Music History from Yale University, Dr. Adams has also held faculty positions at Bowdoin College, Bates College, and the Yale School of Music. Her research explores the responses of the Italian opera industry to the emerging cinematic medium in the early 1900s, focusing on Casa Ricordi, Italy's premier music publisher. Dr. Adams' interests also include opera, the history of media technologies, and reception studies. She has lectured frequently on Debussy, Beethoven, verismo, opera staging, and opera-multimedia. Dr. Adams encourages inclusive education, fosters critical thinking, and seeks to train students in 21st-century skills. She has experience teaching a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students, including non-majors.
