Developer Francis Fish has over 30 years of professional software writing experience, spanning various industries such as Health, Power Station Engineering, Finance, and e-Commerce.

Specializing in Ruby on Rails since 2007, Francis has recently ventured into combining native Android clients with Rails back ends for app development.

Aside from daily coding, he enjoys mentoring and learning from less experienced individuals, and has been transitioning Rails projects to Elixir, a functional programming language.

Starting as a programmer/analyst in 1984, Francis worked at KPMG for three years and Oracle for five in diverse consulting roles.

He is the author of 'Unicorns in the Mist: from chaotic to chaordic,' a book focusing on organizational change and workplace dynamics, and is a sought-after speaker at conferences on Lean and Agile software development.

Francis organized the Manchester Agile Rails Conference, runs startup weekends, and published an e-book titled '14 unintentional mistakes that cost businesses a fortune.'

As an agile/XP coach, he provides training on BDD and agile thinking, and has spoken at numerous industry events like Lean Agile Scotland, Agile Cambridge, Agile North, and Ruby language conferences.
