Kent Scribner

Dr. Kent Paredes Scribner is a distinguished educator who has been serving as the Superintendent of the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) since 2015, overseeing a large community of over 80,000 students and 10,000 employees.

During his tenure, Dr. Scribner has emphasized key educational priorities focused on early literacy, middle years' math, and college, career, and military readiness, which have led to remarkable advancements in student achievements and post-secondary preparedness.

Under his guidance, FWISD students have experienced significant growth, with merit scholarship awards increasing from $36 million to $135 million, and the District consistently improving its letter grade scores, earning accolades as a 'Top Texas Urban District' for positive growth by the Texas Education Agency in 2018.

Prior to his role in Fort Worth, Dr. Scribner built a rich and diverse career in education, starting as a high school Spanish teacher and guidance counselor in Philadelphia, before transitioning to positions as a principal, central office administrator, and ultimately Superintendent in both Arizona and Texas.

In Phoenix, he notably served as the Superintendent of the Isaac School District and the Phoenix Union High School District, achieving remarkable success in enhancing student achievement, graduation rates, and fostering a culture of excellence and high expectations across campuses.

Dr. Scribner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from Carleton College, a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Arizona State University, and a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Temple University.

He further extended his impact in the education sector by serving as a Commissioner to the White House Initiative on Education Excellence for Hispanics from 2011 to 2016, showcasing his commitment to promoting educational excellence and opportunities for diverse communities.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Scribner is a dedicated family man, sharing his life with his wife Suleyka and their four children, embodying a personal connection to the educational system he leads as both a Superintendent and an FWISD parent.
