To date, Nautilus Labs has reduced greenhouse gas emissions due to maritime shipping by over 200,000MT (the equivalent annual emissions of about 43,000 passenger cars).

Led the Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Implementation and Support teams (45 team members across eight time-zones, supporting customer fleets in the Americans, Europe and APAC). Successfully led product and technical due diligence in support of acquisition activities.

My focus in 2022 and 2023 was new product development, better-aligned team structures and improved operational performance.
• hired a VP of Product, a VP of Engineering and a Principal Designer; reorganized our technical teams along product lines, building off the Team Topologies framework
• oversaw the development and release of our BOG (Boil of Gas) Voyage Optimization for LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) tankers
• oversaw the inception, development and release of Fleet Performance Analytics, representing nearly half of 2023 sales pipeline demand
• oversaw the inception and development of Green Charter, a technical and legal framework to align incentives for stakeholders (owners and charterers) in charter party agreements

During 2021, my focus was on team growth as we pulled out of a very challenging 2020.
• grew the team from 10 to over 30 engineers, including Front-end, Back-end, DevOps and Data Engineers, in three locations: the United States, Northern Ireland and Brazil
• recruited and hired a VP of Application Development, a VP of Infrastructure and a Director of IT to ensure we were prepared to scale
• built up tooling (implemented Greenhouse) and laid down process (1-1s, reviews, assessments and interview standards) to ensure we hired and retained the best technical talent
• under my leadership we also re-architected our core product: moving from native mobile to cross-platform, and breaking up monoliths into microservices

During 2020, my focus was on successfully leading through the pandemic, and on team and technology integration.
• led the integration of technology and teams introduced by the merger with Cloosiv
• led the team through staffing reductions and the business disruption caused by Covid-19
• refocused our engineering effort on supporting existing customers and pivoting from predictive ordering to catalog ordering and delivery, our current line of business

During 2019, my focus at Odeko was on team building and product development.
• led the development and launch of Odeko 1.0
• led the rollout of remote-friendly work practices and technology in anticipation of moving to 50% remote work (we were well prepared to go 100% remote when Covid-19 happened)
• led the implementation and integration of NetSuite for our logistics operations

• led the relaunch of SumAll's free analytics product
• scaled the platform to over 400K active users, 600K connected streams of data, 50M items of data processed/day, and 1,600 new active users/day
• led the development of nine new e-commerce integrations, seven new data-driven automations, and multiple back-end data delivery feeds
• led the development of predictive ordering/inventory and the launch of the SumAll.ai platform
• led infrastructure cost-savings initiatives that resulted in just over 40% reduction in AWS costs
• transitioned our home grown Docker infrastructure and toolset to Kubernetes

SumAll / Acquired by Two Sigma

In the first 18 months of employment, SumAll grew connected users and businesses from 27K to 277K (10x), grew connected third-party platforms (Square, Google Analytics, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) from 38K to 710K, and added over 1,600 new active users every day.
• directly managed a team of 20 engineers
• responsible for company-wide project staffing for 8 teams and 40 team members
• led the cross-team, cross-functional coordination meeting comprising heads of engineering, sales, business development, marketing communication, customer experience, and data
• led the most prolific period of new third-party integrations in SumAll’s history -- 14 new platforms in two months
• led the transformation from a monolithic architecture to a microservices architecture to meet stability, scaling and performance demands
• led the introduction of Docker and the containerization of microservices and existing legacy services
• introduced functional programming and Haskell as an alternative to Java for back-end development
• introduced process improvements for product management, team management, and release management
• launched external partner API product

Joined as a consultant in their Web organization. Held a series of progressively more challenging roles in R&D. Led the development and launch of Bloomberg Government Mobile (m.bgov.com). Worked on the next-generation of the Bloomberg Government website, the most comprehensive online source for government news, analysis and insights. Previously, a founding team member of Bloomberg Black.
