- Deal with queries from constituents by phone, in person or by written correspondence.

-  Make representations on behalf of constituents to a range of organisations.

-  Draft responses to constituents on individual casework and political matters.

-  Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.

-  Attend surgeries and other meetings with stakeholders relating to constituents' queries and casework.

-  Oversee the logging of all cases, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken by the appropriate member of the team.

-  Retain records and information confidentially.

-  Drafting parliamentary questions, speeches and briefings.

-  Monitoring bills, legislation, Hansard, debates, etc.

-  Carrying out research on a range of issues.

-  Media monitoring.

-  Manage a small team of staff, ensuring all office work is completed.

-  Manage the staffing and office budgets.

- Primarily responsible for the welfare of students, building a better relationship between students and the local community, acting as the lead officer for volunteering projects, and speaking to the media.
- Required to sit on 12 different University committees and working groups, whilst producing various reports regarding students issues for discussion.
- Analyse a range of University policies to either recommend changes or to abolish policies altogether.
- Actively encourage students to participate in the various opportunities available to them through the Students' Union, and assign them to different volunteering projects.
- Provide training to the Committees of the various student groups, as well as training for the volunteering activities available.
- Represent student issues at Portsmouth City Council, and liaise with the Local Councillors.
- Oversee expenditure within areas of budget responsibility, and act as a bank signatory on the Union accounts.
- Sit on the Board of Trustees of the Students' Union in order to provide the charity with direction and advice.
