Carmen Lai is a talented data scientist with a keen interest in leveraging biomedical data to create tools that aid scientists and promote healthier living. Her background in neuroscience, coupled with her passion for biotechnology, has enabled her to become an expert in applied machine learning, clinical genetics and precision healthcare. Carmen studied at the Academy of Math, Science, and Applied Technology in Las Vegas before going on to achieve a B.S in Neuroscience, with Distinction, from Duke University. She began her professional career as a Neuroscience Intern in the Dale Purves Lab at Duke-NUS Medical School and has since worked for various organizations including Color, 23andMe and Edge Analytics Inc, where she currently works as a Senior Data Scientist. Carmen has also served as an Interactive Track member at Neuromatch Academy and as a Data Science Fellow at Galvanize. Her experience in marketing analytics, business development, and bioinformatics has given her a well-rounded skill-set, which she uses to make significant contributions to the field of data science.
