Akil Taher is a septuagenarian marathon runner, mountaineer, triathlon athlete, century cycler, and author from North Alabama, USA. Having gone through a triple bypass surgery in 2009, he transformed his life and became a heart-healthy lifestyle advocate. His achievements include completing a full marathon, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, finishing a century bike ride, and much more. He has over twenty years of experience running and managing urgent care clinics and has given talks on heart-healthy living at various events. He is a former owner and physician of Doctors Med Care. Akil Taher's forthcoming book on heart-healthy living chronicles his life post-open-heart surgery and his journey to becoming a resilient athlete. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from MGIMS, Nagpur University, India, and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Flower Hospital, Ohio.
