Current Responsibilities:

Full Product charter for:
-  Grid Data Management products (Hadoop):  GDM is used for managing data life cycle on Hadoop grids - acquisition (data into the grid), replication (data between grids), retention (purge), archival (to tape). It manages data on multiple large (4000+ node) grids in Yahoo.
-  Yahoo Cloud Serving Engine: This is Yahoo's private compute cloud. Fully owned and run from my team. It does much more than EC2 and less than App Engine. Deployment automation, repeatable, declarative deployments.
-  Data Highway (Event transport for Yahoo; 120+ billion a day): Built a business case for a hosted, multi-tenant event transport service. Carries all of Yahoo's revenue and audience events. Geographically distributed across the globe.

Partial, engineering ownership for:
-  Parts of Sherpa (Cloud based Structured Storage)
-  Java platform libraries and tools

Past highlights: (as Manager, Director and Sr Director)

-  Conceptualized and built what has become the defacto standard for feed processing in Yahoo. One of the first successful deployments of Hadoop (<a href="http://hadoop.apache.org/">http://hadoop.apache.org/</a>)
-  Conceptualized and build a vertical crawl and extraction engine for Yahoo Hotjobs (CafeKelsa) - (multiple patents)
-  Conceptualized and built the User location storage platform for Yahoo. (using Sherpa - the Cloud based Structured Store for Yahoo)
-  Delivered the revamped Hotjobs backend system, integrating the Hotjobs backend with Siebel. (dont claim any knowledge of Siebel)
-  Managed high performance engineering teams from 10-100 folks at different times.

At Seven, we built a Black Berry killer - email, calendar and contact sync over the air for smart phones like Palm, Window mobile. Lots of challenges in this start-up.
Doing what the Black Berry did seamlessly on an Open smart phone and making it work across multiple primitive operating systems was a great challenge. Another key challenge was to build end-to-end security, with the data being hidden during intermediate hops.
We didn't kill the berry, did we? (we now know that it is called an iPhone). But we had lots of fun and built a great product.

- Built the Provider Network application (Provider == Doctors, Nurses, Hospitals etc). Primarily C++ apps with a CORBA backend.

Was part of a small (<5) team that transformed Verifone from a POS device company to a software provider for merchant banks and an internet payment software company. HP acquired Verifone for this.
