Perry holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of California, Davis and has worked in a variety of high-profile positions throughout her career.

Perry started her professional journey as a laboratory technician at The Scripps Research Institute and later transitioned into media, where she worked as a news writer at KFBK-AM, anchored and reported for KCRA-TV & KCPQ-TV, and worked as a producer. Perry's pivot continued into government where she was the chief of the Office of Information and Public Affairs at California Department of Health Services. She then became a principal consultant at California State Assembly, and then the Associate Secretary of Public Affairs at the California Health and Welfare Agency. Prior to her current role as CEO of Perry Communications Group, she served as the Deputy Communications Director for Governor Pete Wilson.
