Deborah Bosley, PhD, is a renowned expert in Plain Language and a Professor Emeritus of English at UNC Charlotte. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Deborah has worked with attorneys, corporations, government agencies, and non-profits in regulatory environments, creating written information that is easy to understand and use. Her team of information designers, plain language writers, and usability experts are experts in writing a variety of communication, including employee and customer communication, financial statements, and college aid forms. Deborah advocates for Plain Language because people have the right to understand the information that affects their lives. She believes that when consumers understand the communication they get from companies and institutions, they can make better, more confident decisions, which in turn benefits businesses. Deborah and her team have worked with a diverse range of clients across industries, including financial services, healthcare, internet, technology, and education. Clients have seen the benefits of Plain Language with a decrease in calls after her work with 1,000 employees at TIAA, which the company dubbed "The Bosley Method."
