Brian Burton, Ed. D. is a seasoned Associate Professor who has taught and mentored students in distance learning, gamification, VR, AR, and STEM for game, learning, personalization, and serious applications for online learning. He leads the Digital Entertainment Technology program at Abilene Christian University, which is a top-ranked game development degree recognized by Princeton Review for the last five years. Burton is an author of several textbooks on game and mobile app development using Unity, Babylon.JS, Amazon Lumberyard, iOS, Android, and Unreal. He also researches and teaches digital entertainment technology, including game development, animation, special effects, cinematic, and real-time CGI. His expertise lies in explaining technical and complex concepts in easy-to-understand pedagogical lessons, providing leadership, teaching, and training in technology fields such as virtual worlds, game design, mobile applications, instructional design, VR, serious games, and animation.

Burton has an M.S. in Secondary Education: Administration from Missouri State University, a B.S. in Sec. Ed/MIS/CS from Abilene Christian University, an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Masters in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University. He has experience teaching and developing with Java, TypeScript, Babylon.js, Node.js, Lua, JavaScript, Unity, and Lumberyard.
