Joanna Miles is a skilled career development educator with over 15 years' experience in higher education. With a Master's in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelor's in English Textual Studies and Secondary Education from Syracuse University, Miles brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as Assistant Director for Career Planning at the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Miles is a dedicated collaborator and has worked on a variety of projects, from consulting for the MBA internship program at Yale University to serving in Katrina disaster relief at Tulane University Career Services. Miles has also been a trainer, presenter, and facilitator for Alpha Phi Omega and a career counselor at Springfield College, Western New England University, and the Valley Opportunity Council/Ludlow Area Adult Learning Center. She has authored content on Green Jobs at Sustainlane, and graduated from the NACE Management Leadership Institute in 2008. Miles is a qualified Myers Briggs Type Indicator consultant and a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW).
In her current role, Miles coaches students to identify and articulate their career competencies and strengths, helping ensure their success and growth at all levels. Her deep commitment to student success and growth has made her a valuable asset to the University of Massachusetts Amherst community and beyond.
