Schaefer's education includes a Bachelor's in Communication Studies (Rhetoric), a Master's degree in Communication Studies (Rhetoric), and a Doctorate in Communication Studies. She has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Walla Walla Community College, an Assistant Introductory Course Director at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and a Graduate Teaching Instructor at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
