Michael Tam

Michael Tam is an accomplished attorney with a diverse background and extensive experience in the legal field. He attended Villa Park High School before earning his Bachelor of Science in Management Science from UC San Diego, where he gained a strong foundation in problem-solving, data analysis, and leadership. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he specialized in business law and contract negotiations.

After completing his education, Michael began his legal career as a Law Clerk at Mayfield & Associates. He then worked as an Attorney at Fernandez & Lauby LLP before joining Woodruff, Spradlin & Smart as an Associate Attorney. At both firms, he specialized in labor and employment law, working on a variety of cases involving discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination.

Michael currently serves as the University Counsel at the California State University Office of the Chancellor. In this role, he works with a team of attorneys to provide legal advice and support to the CSU system, which includes 23 campuses and over 480,000 students. He is an expert in higher education law, with a particular focus on student affairs, Title IX, and government relations.
