Daniel Chan

Meet Daniel Chan, a robotics and electromechanical systems designer with mastery in emerging technology and early-stage R&D. With a focus on creating innovative "smart" products that respond to their environment, Daniel is a skilled mechanical engineer who is passionate about creating first-principle analyses to connect ideas with implementation strategies. Daniel has a Masters and Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University with a GPA of 3.95 and 4.00, respectively, and a High School Diploma from Menlo School.

Daniel has extensive experience in mechatronics and controls as Lead Engineer, Mechatronics and Controls, and formerly Staff Technologist, Mechatronics at Hyundai Kia America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI). Additionally, he has previously taught and assisted as Course Assistant for ME104 at Stanford University. Other notable roles he has held include Former Mechanical Engineer Design Intern at Plenty, Former Robotics Engineer at Chavin de Huantar Archaeological Project, Former Product Development Consultant, and Former Resident Assistant at Stanford University, among others.

Currently, Daniel is working on developing a new class of legged vehicles as part of the team at New Horizons Studio. His love for prototyping and working hands-on with designs, combining creativity, innovation and technical knowledge, is evident in his previous work.
