Educate 6 - 150 passengers a trip about Hawaiian geology, geography, natural history, ecology, culture, and all aspects of marine life through presentations, slides, talks and visual aids both on and off the PA system.Ensures each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid program knowledge and exhibits utmost professionalism.Performs crew duties: handles lines, assists with docking, mooring, boat cleaning, maintenance and other essential crew duties.Learns and maintains working knowledge of vessel systems, safety requirements and procedures, and participates in vessel drills on a regular basis.Work effectively in a dynamic team setting, demonstrating sensitivity to diversity and multiple working styles.Run transects of Maui County waters, on PWF's research vessel, looking for Humpback Whales and a variety of odontocetes to collect data and obtain photos for identification.Match photos of Humpback flukes to the largest collection of fluke identification photos in the north pacific.

The primary focus of the instructor position is to provide visiting school groups with an overview of the ecology of south Florida. Students participate in the study of: coral reefs, nearshore communities, mangroves, and intertidal environments.In addition:  Instructed over 1000 students on various science programs through lectures, laboratories, dissections, and field exercises on land, boats and in the water. Supervised children ages 10-18 on and in the water as well as in the classroom.Developed lesson plans, activities and new science programs to enhance NHMI science curriculum.Maintained multiple 100+ gallon aquariums with a variety of marine life.Fished responsibly for nurse sharks, Ginglymostoma cirratum, and the bonnethead shark, Sphyrna tiburo, to tag and then stock our shark pond for educational purposes.Coordinated 3-4 day visits for Montessori, private and public schools involving up to 100 participates. Responsibilities included:Contacting teachers to discuss program option and set-up a schedule prior to arrival.Organized orientation, room assignments, meals, and coordination with other instructors involved with the school group to insure the school enjoys a quality experience.SCUBA SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR: Instructed, supervised and taught children in an underwater environment (Course included: Marine Animal Behavior and Marine Ecology)Assisted in certifying NAUI Open water SCUBA candidates. PHOTOGRAPHER Photographed the staff and campers interactions throughout each session.Created an end of session slide show through PowerPoint by sorting through thousands of photos.
