Neal Kaufman, MD, MPH, is a renowned medical professional, entrepreneur, and founder of Canary Health, a leading technology company providing innovative solutions for health promotion and disease prevention. With decades of experience in academic medicine and public health, Dr. Kaufman has a vast understanding of how technology-enabled behavior change interventions can help patients adopt and sustain healthy behaviors in the context of therapeutic relationships. He is deeply grounded in behavior change and patient self-management support theories and research-based protocols.
Dr. Kaufman received his MD in Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed his Pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He also holds an MPH in Public Health from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and a BA in Biology from Northwestern University. Dr. Kaufman has worked in various roles throughout his career, including Head of Community Pediatrics at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center, Director of Academic Primary Care Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Commissioner at First 5 LA.
In his capacity at Canary Health, Dr. Kaufman focuses on creating clinically-linked programs based on how master clinicians provide care, linked into community resources and supports, and enabled by sophisticated information technology. He has a deep understanding of health promotion, disease prevention, and clinical care, and his expertise in provider and patient education has helped him craft effective solutions that meet patients' evolving healthcare needs.
