Kimi Narita
Kimi Narita, a seasoned expert at the intersection of cities, states, utilities, climate action, and economic recovery, has devoted her professional career to answering the critical question: What do cities need to do to support the greater climate movement and what do other levels of government need to do to support ambitious local climate action? She holds a JD and an M.S. from Stanford University, where she studied Environmental Law and an Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources, as well as a BA in Anthropological Sciences from the same institution.
Kimi has an extensive background working for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), where she served in various roles, including the Senior Strategic Advisor for the American Cities Climate Challenge and the Director of Buildings and Energy. During her time at NRDC, she also worked as the Deputy Director and Director of Strategic Engagement for the City Energy Project, and as a Schneider Energy Fellow. As an Adjunct Lecturer at Stanford Law School, she shared her expertise with the next generation of legal professionals. Notably, Kimi has also worked as a Law Clerk at the Alaska Supreme Court and was a Legal Intern at NRDC.
Kimi's expertise and passion are in developing innovative and equitable strategies to dramatically increase climate action. She has extensive knowledge and understanding of energy efficiency, building decarbonization, renewable energy, marine science, and environmental law. As a former Outreach Manager and Intern at the City Energy Project, she has built strong connections with diverse stakeholders across various sectors.
