Stavros Xanthopoylos is a renowned expert in open, distance, flexible and corporate education with over 22 years of experience. As the cofounder and CEO of KITUTOR, and the founder and CEO of SPX Consulting, he specializes in Education Solutions and Business Model Design. He is an author and invited professor at FGV-IDE – Executive Educational Unit at FGV, where he was also formerly a Vice Dean and Dean. Xanthopoylos's work has focused specifically on the research and implementation of Open Educational Resources (OER) practices in Brazil and around the globe. He is currently the International Director of the Brazilian Distance Education Association (ABED), and was formerly Vice President until 2015.

Xanthopoylos has received dozens of awards for his work in the academia and the corporate world, earning him the right to be listed in the honored list of great educators. He is also a member of the executive committee and project advisor in the Research for OER in the Developing World (ROER4D) and the OEC-MIT Board. Xanthopoylos has spoken about distance education in conferences such as ICDE, IMS Global LIA, and served as judge for the IMS Learning Impact Awards since 2011. Furthermore, he is a consultant for both the private and public sectors in knowledge and educational management, operational effectiveness, and quality.

Xanthopoylos holds a PhD in Business Administration from FGV-EAESP, a Master's Degree in Production Engineering - Quality and Productivity, and a Bachelor's Degree in Production Engineering from The Polytechnic School at the University of São Paulo. In 2014, he was appointed National Chancellor for Education by the Brazilian Honors to Merit Academy.
