Brian Hansford is a seasoned communications professional with over 20 years of experience in strategic communications, journalism, and partnership building. He boasts a proven track record as a senior communications advisor and United Nations spokesperson on complex issues, including crisis communications and reputational risk. Hansford is a diplomatic and politically aware individual, with extensive global headquarters, field, and emergency experience with the United Nations, Reuters, BBC, NGOs, and the corporate sector. He is proficient in building robust relationships with internal and external partners.
Hansford brings a wealth of experience to his roles, having served as Chief of Advocacy at the UNODC, Senior Public Information Officer at UNHCR, Deputy Director of Strategic Communication and Spokespersons Unit at the United Nations, and Communications Advisor and Spokesperson at UNDP Afghanistan. Additionally, he has held communication positions at UNICEF, United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), and UN News Centre. Hansford has also worked as a journalist for Reuters, the BBC, The Times (London), Agence France Presse (AFP), Enterprise Oil, and Time.
Hansford is an alumnus of School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, where he completed his master's degree in Area Studies, Politics, International Affairs, and Language (Southeast Asia). He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Journalism from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd and a bachelor's degree in International Politics and Strategic Studies from Aberystwyth University.
