Dr. Neil A. Martin, MD, a distinguished neurosurgeon, has recently joined Pacific Neuroscience Institute (PNI) and Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA.
He will assume the role of regional medical director of neuroscience for Providence Southern California, overseeing neuroscience activities in 13 Providence hospitals across Los Angeles, Orange counties, and the High Desert.
Dr. Martin's neurosurgical practice at PNI will specialize in treating patients with facial pain syndromes, skull base tumors, aneurysms, and arteriovenous malformations.
He will also be involved in neuroscience clinical trials and research at PNI and the John Wayne Cancer Institute (JWCI), in addition to serving as the Director of Innovation and Quality at PNI Foundation.
With an impressive background including a previous tenure as department chair at UCLA and chairman of Geisinger Neuroscience Institute, Dr. Martin brings over 30 years of experience, making him a valuable addition to the Providence team.
Considered a leading skull base and neurovascular neurosurgeon in the U.S., Dr. Martin has mentored numerous residents and fellows, led various clinical trials and NIH grants, and authored nearly 300 peer-reviewed publications.
His arrival at Providence signals a significant advancement for the Neuroscience Clinical Institute, enhancing integrated and cost-effective care while expanding research and clinical trials regionally.
Dr. Martin's educational journey includes completing a Neurovascular Fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute, a Neurosurgery Residency at UCSF, and earning his MD in Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
His extensive professional background features roles such as Director of Quality and Innovation at Pacific Neuroscience Institute Foundation, Chief Quality Officer at Geisinger, and Director of Neurosurgery Service Line at UCLA Health System.
