Carol Mimura
Carol Mimura is a prominent figure in the field of intellectual property and industry research, with a wealth of experience spanning academia, research, and industry. Mimura has a Ph.D. in Biology from Boston University and a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry from Yale University. She also undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC Berkeley.
Mimura has held various positions throughout her career, including Assistant Vice Chancellor for Intellectual Property & Industry Research Alliances (IPIRA) at UC Berkeley, Executive Director, Director, Senior Life Sciences Licensing Officer and Licensing Officer at UC Berkeley's Office of Technology Licensing. Mimura has also worked as a Consultant at Cor Therapeutics and Genomyx and as an analyst at Technology Forecasters.
Mimura's work focuses on the nuanced management of IP rights to promote social impact, social responsibility licensing, Euclidean innovation and the Valley of Death, and the relationship of CEO gender and age to performance of venture-backed startups. Additionally, she has served on the Institute of Medicine Forum on Drug Discovery, Development & Translation and was a former board member of the Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute.
