Gene Levinson, a social entrepreneur with a diverse career path, has made significant contributions in both the scientific and educational fields. With a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of California, Irvine, and a bachelor's degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, Levinson has made numerous accomplishments throughout his professional career. As a graduate student, he discovered the fundamental mechanism by which repetitive DNA sequences expand, called slipped-strand mispairing. He later founded the first laboratory to screen for life-threatening genetic disorders in human embryos, using nested PCR. With over a thousand hours of professional tutoring experience, he has received recognition for his teaching excellence, awarded as a Tutor in Biology for Harvard undergraduates. Levinson is also the founder and CEO of SmartNoter Inc, which develops innovative media and learning toolkits, making it easy to migrate and improve educational content for safe and on-demand college courses. Furthermore, he has published an accessible, award-winning book titled "Rethinking Evolution" - a 21st-century update to Darwinian evolution.
