Heidi Hong

Heidi Hong is a Ph.D. candidate in American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on ecological collapse as a result of empire, militarism, and capitalism in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Engaged in Transpacific Studies, environmental humanities, and gender and sexuality studies, Heidi's work involves analyzing cultural texts like postcolonial literature, visual art, and film.

She has contributed writings to publications like the Los Angeles Review of Books and Pacific Standard, with forthcoming work in the Asian American Literary Review.

Heidi Hong holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Relations from Scripps College and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy, American Studies at the University of Southern California.

Apart from her academic pursuits, she has been involved in various roles such as Teaching Assistant at USC, Research and Development Associate at Kaya Press, and Program and Development Manager at Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL). Additionally, she has experience as a Public Service Fellow at CAPAL, Eva Lowe Fellow at Chinese Progressive Association, and Career Planning and Resources Blogger at Scripps College, among other positions.

Heidi's diverse background includes a stint as an Intern at Granada Insider, an Institute of International Public Policy Fellow Cohort 16 at UNCFSP, and roles such as MedEdPortal Intern at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Associate News Editor, and Staff Writer at Pomona College.
