John Danner
John Danner is a seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and educator with a remarkable academic and professional trajectory. He is the Managing Partner at Dunce Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in innovative educational startups. John has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, both from Stanford University. He also studied Education at Vanderbilt University.
John has been a key investor and advisor for several successful edtech ventures such as Prenda, Svacademy, Tinycare, Padlet Inc., Kunduz, Lingokids, Lambda School, Juni Learning, Outschool, and Epic Performance Improvement Limited. He is passionate about leveraging technology to transform traditional educational models and promote personalized learning experiences.
Before diving into the startup world, John was a public school teacher at Metro Nashville Public Schools, where he developed a deep sense of empathy and understanding for both students and educators. Later, he worked as a Software Engineer at SGI, Oracle, and Opelin, exhibiting his expertise in programming, networking, and software development.
John is also the Co-Founder and former CEO of both Rocketship Education, a network of public charter schools, and Zeal Learning, an adaptive learning platform acquired by K12 in 2015.
