The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) is the only national peak body for the $15bn waste and resource recovery industry.  Our membership covers the entire spectrum of the industry including landfill, recycling and resource recovery, energy from waste, e-waste, organics, construction and demolition, commercial and industrial, hazardous and biohazardous waste sectors.The National Carbon Division of WMRR is the members' think tank group on issues relating to the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.The Carbon division works closely with WMRR's Landfill division, the industry sector most directly affected by carbon policy. The Carbon division, however, also considers the perspectives of landfill customers and other affected waste management sectors (such as recyclers and organics processors).As Chair, I stand on the shoulders of the sector's great experience and techincal expertise to push for a fair transition of the Waste and Resource Recovery Sector to NetZero by 2030, and the integration of covid19 and bushfire recovery with climate repair and resource recovery strategies.Our sector holds a unique linchpin position to bring about the change that we need, both at scale and in meaningful way for communities on the ground.

SITA-Australia Environmental Solutions is a subsidiary of SUEZ-Environment, and is one of Australia'sleaders in Waste Management activities. In 2009, SITA has been granted the `Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific IndustrialTechnologies Award for Waste Management Company of the Year " for its long term commitment to enhance wastemanagement and reduce waste disposal and landfill emissions. Carbon Emissions Project Manager

As part of the French government initiatives in the French overseas territories, the Army leads a voluntaryopt-in insertion program. Based on the former compulsory service infrastructures, the Service Militiare Adapte (SMA) aims atproviding disadvantaged local young adults with education and professional experience in an enclosed, military and remoteenvironment, away from their social background.          My main contribution was to supervise, as a project manager, the SMA's contribution to the `Matava'a iti ote henua enata' (Marquesan Arts Festival).          With regards to the volunteers, I had to:- Ensure that educational goals were achieved (general culture, French, maths and technical skills)- Asses whether the 'cultural battle' against their social background was turning in favour of a more certain future- Provide pscychological help and support          As the `Matava'a iti' project manager, my tasks were to:- Plan, organize and lead the SMA contribution to the `Matava'a iti' on an island close-by. This included the reconstruction ofan ancient Marquesan Maori village under several constraints (to be true to the original village, to be suitable for public useand to allow the SMA volunteers to gain professional experience). It also included negotiating contracts, planning for sea-transport, accommodation and food for a team of 45 young workers and staff over 7 weeks.- Lead the team on the field. including social and professional networking -Lead safety operations during the festival          Finally, as Deputy Chief officer I was in charge of- Leading the volunteer screening process and the first month of military training of the next promotion (2006-07).- Making sure that every single young volunteer finds an appropriate long term employment at the end of the formation.(includes negotiations with local employers)- Improve organisational policies at the company.
