The bulk of startup stories we are all familiar with tend to end with an oversubscribed IPO and millions of dollars for the founders. You know the drill; the Unicorns, the rainbows, and the rest of it. But these are not the norm. These are exceptions.

The reality is that despite the ever-growing torrent of inspirational stories and the ton of how-to books that flood the internet and fill the self-help sections of bookstores aimed at producing ‘successes’, 9 startups out of ten fail. That’s right; irrespective of a startup team’s ideas, talent, funding, hard work or milestones achieved along the way, only 10% of startups make it past ten years (and few are profitable). 

It is this realization that led me to conclude that to improve the probability of entrepreneurs succeeding we needed less improbable tales of ‘success’ and more real-world startup stories. 

How Hard Can It Be compiles a decade worth of learnings from startup experiences (my own as a baseline). How Hard Can It Be is not a '1-2-3 type book' or your typical '5 Hacks to Make Zillions'. Instead, it is the behind-the-scenes account of what it really is like to run a tech startup.

 Sales: I worked with my own accounts of multinational companies to generate topline. I supported senior consultants in expanding their own accounts by finding new sales opportunities. I also worked closely with the Northern Europe leadership team to acquire and develop new global accounts with millions SEK/annum in revenue potential 

 Intrapreneurship: I worked at turning an ailing Business Unit of the Group into a totally new business with its new positioning, model, revenue streams. After months of research and an unfruitful attempt, we concluded that it was better to terminate the unit.

	Management of the UK operations together with franchisee (suppliers management, logistics, event operations). Marketing/branding of local events in London with advertising agencies and event companies
	Worked on opening Absolut Icebar Dubai (feasibility, suppliers management) 
	Brought CSR at the top of the venture’s agenda. Put, together with Absolut, a set of Global Sustainability Guidelines and Q&A.

While finishing my MBA, I did a consulting assignment for the UNDP Armenia. I researched the extent to which the implementation of the CSR concept within the strategies of Armenian Corporations could participate in accelerating the channeling of FDIs to the country.
