Gavin Sheridan is a seasoned journalist, legal tech entrepreneur, and open data enthusiast. He studied history, politics, and philosophy at University College Cork and Milltown Institute, respectively. Afterward, he joined the Irish Examiner as a journalist and headed to London to intern for the New Statesman.
Sheridan's breakthrough came when he co-founded the investigative reporting and open data platform, Right to Know in Ireland in 2005. Five years later, he joined Storyful as the Director of Innovation, where he spearheaded the startup's adoption of data-driven journalism, a move that News Corp. took note of and acquired the company.
Currently, Sheridan runs Vizlegal, a legal data platform that leverages cutting-edge technology to make legal research faster and more efficient. He is also a frequent speaker on topics related to open data, legal tech, and journalism at events worldwide.
