Bruce was responsible for driving Global Product roadmaps, Product Design and Research for OLX across Goods, Motors, Real Estate and Jobs C2C + B2B2C services and platforms in over 20 markets around the world. To enable OLX to benefit from its global scale, while retaining local customer-centricity, Bruce established and invested in a centralized, skilled and more empowered Product, Design, Research and Customer Safety and Security organization, with team members embedded across Europe, South America, Europe and Southeast Asia.Bruce championed the OLX global Panamera project which successfully migrated tens of millions of customers in high potential growth developing countries, such as India and Indonesia, from divergent marketplace solutions onto a new single more modern and more capable marketplace platform – enabling rapid innovation and distribution to all customers, deeper investment in areas such as AI assisted buying, selling and safety, but also a hyperlocal service with the right regional capabilities and cultural nuances. He was a key driver of the OLX Motors strategy including building a global partnership with Frontier Car Group to deliver innovative and successful online/offline experiences for private and professional customers buying and selling vehicles in Europe, India and Indonesia.Bruce also focused on helping the broader company understand what Customer Centricity and Working Back from the Customer actually means in practice. He traveled extensively to meet and coach teams in person, and contributed regularly to internal global webinars on this topic.

OLX Group

Global Chief Product Officer - C2C and B2B2C Marketplaces/Platforms

As a Sr. Director and core member of the Amazon Prime leadership team, based in Seattle, Bruce owned global Prime benefits and the membership & marketing platform, led core Product, Program and Design teams, and collaborated with engineering, business and product leaders across Amazon to i) increase the value of membership through conceiving, validating and creating major new member benefits (streaming, gaming and shopping related) and ii) accelerate global expansion by creating a Prime membership and marketing platform capable of delivering global and market-specific needs, including CRM (segmentation and auto targeting), member account flexibility (family benefit sharing, monthly payments, new payment methods including COD and EBT payment support for lower income members).Bruce was the Prime leadership team sponsor and product leader of new member benefits including Twitch Prime (attracting a younger membership), Prime Reading, Prime Visa Card, Audible Channels, Music Unlimited Prime Pricing, Member Retail Exclusives, Early Access to Deals, Amazon Family Prime Benefits and Monthly Prime Membership. Bruce also led the international expansion of member benefits, working with core Seattle and local country teams (with leadership of product in each country) in order to drive parity across US, Canada, Japan, India, Mexico, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria and Belgium. During this period worldwide paying Prime membership doubled to 100MM.Further to this, and in order to accelerate expansion, Bruce collaborated with Amazon Video in order to launch Prime Video Global, enabling digital-first Prime video-only membership in more than 200 countries.

Global Head of Product & GM – Prime Member Platform & Benefits Innovation

AVG protects the data, devices and privacy of hundreds of millions of active consumers around the globe. As VP Product, Bruce championed the strategic pivot from endpoint anti-virus to cloud-based services for consumers that work across any combination of operating systems present in a household to protect the privacy, data and devices of an individual or a whole family – brought together by a modernized, gamified, dynamic UI branded as AVG Zen that received strong positive reviews, cemented distribution deals with partners including Sony mobile and succeeded in driving higher engagement and conversion from free to paid.  Bruce also worked closely with the mobile team on new standalone services including a secure wallet, with the browser extensions team on new browser-centric services and with the small business team to overhaul AVG CloudCare into an award-winning service. During his tenure at AVG, Bruce worked closely with his engineering peers to re-invent how services were designed and delivered to customers. He also won board approvals for significant new platform investments to order to deliver next generation marketing capabilities, and hired highly effective leaders across Customer Experience Design and Product Management global teams.  Bruce was part of the core team that took AVG public on NYSE in February 2012, and before he departed for Amazon, AVG surpassed the 200 million active customer mark, over half of whom accessed primarily via mobile devices.

VP Product & Design – Global Consumer Products, Experience & Platform

Bruce was responsible for driving the e-commerce marketplace and subscription platform, Symantec's online consumer business, worth over $2Bn per year. Bruce was a key contributor in a critical company migration from Digital River to a brand new in-house e-commerce platform and store. The significant improvements achieved in performance, conversions and cost savings exceeded expectations. Symantec's online store now sells more software downloads to a global customer base than any other service in the world. Bruce led efforts which significantly improved conversion results from the global OEM channel (HP, Dell, Sony) through rapid, iterative improvements to the customer experience ranging from a much more consumer friendly lexicon through to the introduction of Express Renewal with a client-embedded checkout. Bruce also represented the Norton platform on the team that successfully switched Comcast to offering their subscribers Norton 360 rather than McAfee. To win the business the service was built and launched on time, only 2 months after the agreement was signed.  Bruce also sponsored new anti-theft product and platform capabilities in order to grow retail point-of-sale volumes with major retail partners including Target and Walmart. Bruce led significant improvements to Norton Account, including enabling customers to log in and manage all their products, services and devices in one place, including downloading software with personal license keys already injected, seamlessly renewing current products and adding enhancements such as unlimited storage space. Bruce chaired the bi-weekly Online Business Strategy Forum in which priority/resource clashes between core product and platform were resolved and key strategies were aligned. Bruce also worked closely with Symantec’s Customer Research Group to define and roll out significant research projects aimed at testing and validating ideas for future business.

Radialpoint (now AppHelp by AppDirect) create and deliver the VAS programs for premier brands across the globe including Comcast, Bell, Panda Security, Rogers, Telus, Verizon and Virgin Media. Bruce was hired to expand the company portfolio to include non-security services including music, video and gaming.  However when company priorities changed, he quickly pivoted to lead a renewed focus on their core white-labelled broadband consumer security business.  As head of product management for core security, Bruce delivered 2 generations of white-labelled B2B2C security suites to major ISPs around the world, driving revenue and reducing churn and support costs for those partners. In this capacity Bruce drove the company decision process to overhaul their core security capabilities and completed a partnership with Kaspersky Labs - ensuring a continuation of their key promise to deliver best-of-breed security efficacy to their ISP customers and their consumers.  Bruce conceived and delivered a new ‘Security Advisor’ consumer switching program, which using gamification to test the efficacy of existing security was successful in converting 1 in 5 consumers who tried it from their installed security, to a new ISP-branded suite provided by Radialpoint.  Related to this Bruce also led the delivery of an award-winning (League of American Communication Professionals) education and acquisition campaigns for Radialpoint’s largest ISP customer Verizon, further enhancing their credentials as a B2B2C partner.

Senior Director Product - Global Value-Added B2B2C Services

Bruce drove successful expansion of the Roxio product line from CD/DVD-based backup to include consumer creative tools for music, photo, home video, content management and sharing capabilities. The work culminated in the creation of an integrated suite that was the most ambitious and capable consumer product line in Sonic’s history - Easy Media Creator was delivered on time within budget and received sterling reviews including editor’s choice awards from CNET and PC Magazine across all four generations that Bruce led.  Bruce led strategic product planning, partner management and project coordination across international engineering teams for Sonic’s RoxioNow initiative, which delivered Hollywood movies direct to disc in consumer’s homes or on-demand at retailers months earlier that other download services. RoxioNow delivered a complete end-to-end solution, allowing PC makers, consumer electronics companies, and retailers to participate and is the underlying technology behind Best Buy's CinemaNow service.  Bruce for a key contributor to the licensing business model and partner processes for RoxioNow's QFlix hardware certification and licensing program and presented RoxioNow capabilities to studio and OEM executives at CES 2005.  Bruce also negotiated worldwide partnership agreements with Dolby Laboratories for audio codec licenses and DivX for video codec licenses (achieving uniquely favorable world-wide terms for both).  Bruce was also a member of the core team that oversaw the creation of a new music service based on acquisitions of Pressplay from Universal/Sony and the Napster brand name.

As General Manager for content, and leading a team of 30 producers, designers and engineers, Bruce transformed a “media guide” service into a market leading and profitable OTT video streaming subscription service. Only 3 months after joining Real Networks, Bruce pulled together many disparate threads of work across content licensing, engineering and marketing and wrapped up development and successfully launched the new GoldPass (subsequently rebranded as RealOne) premium video subscription service in the US, 7 years before Netflix would stream their first content. RealOne was launched with ground-breaking content including premium live and on-demand content across news (CNN, ABC News, The Weather Channel, CNET and <a href="http://WSJ.com">WSJ.com</a>), sports (NBA, NFL, NASCAR, MLB, PGA Tour and FOX Sports) and entertainment (E! Entertainment, Big Brother, Survivor, iFIlm and Starz On Demand).  After only one year RealOne was generating more revenue than the legacy media player software business with 400,000 paying subscribers.In addition to the subscription business Bruce led the introduction of the first pre and post roll video advertising into online video content – achieving exceptional CPM, and led production automation which cut operating costs by 40%.

Bruce relocated from the UK to the US in 1998 to manage all co-branded services on <a href="http://MSN.com">MSN.com</a>. He revamped 2 existing services (MSN Computing in partnership with ZDnet and MSN Women in partnership with iVillage and sponsored by Unilever) and launched 4 major new co-branded services on <a href="http://MSN.com">MSN.com</a> (MSN Careers, in partnership with CareerBuilder, MSN City Guides for 71 US cities in partnership with Citysearch after their purchase of Sidewalk, MSN Entertainment in partnership with E! and MSN Health in partnership with WebMD). Through these partnerships and launches Bruce transformed the MSN channel group from a $10m cost center to a $60MM revenue generator.  Bruce led a team of 20 producers, designers, engineers and QA.

Microsoft

Group Product Manager - MSN US

Bruce conceived and commissioned 2 major interactive online shows – MSN 4Men (co-branded as ‘brought to you by GQ’) and MSN LookGood FeelGood (co-branded as ‘brought to you by Vogue’) via a publishing partnership and editorial collaboration with Condé Nast to create original content for MSN.  Bruce also launched a groundbreaking free ad-driven Cricket sports site, initiating partnerships with Lords Cricket, BBC Radio and Virgin in order to stream live match audio while displaying an interactive scoreboard with player stats lookup.  Bruce also led the product planning and coordination for the launch of MSN’s UK portal site, MSN.co.uk which through a unique editorial approach and design requested for the UK led to significantly higher consumer engagement that the flagship US site.

Bruce was a founding member of the Business Evangelist team for Microsoft UK.  Challenged to conceive and deliver business briefings to corporate decision makers across the UK and to multiple verticals, Bruce was effective at convincing businesses to switch to Microsoft Office and BackOffice solutions and Bruce was part of a 5 member team that presented to around 10,000 people a year and drove rapid business conversion away from Lotus, WordPerfect, Novell and Oracle and towards end-to-end consistent and integrated Microsoft solutions.

Bruce designed and coded trading and MIS systems for major blue chip companies in the UK, including a newly privatized power company and a government agency.  Bruce’s final project was to introduce rapid prototyping for PC solutions, which led to introductions within Microsoft and a subsequent offer to join Microsoft UK.
