Analytics & Data Science Associate

Graduate Student studying the evolutionary dynamics of mitochondrial DNA, completed Master’s research project in August 2015. Constructed model of DNA competition as a generalized Kimura (diffusion) equation, with five tunable parameters, aiming to study the various effects of evolutionary forces on a system with two levels of selection. Studied various regimes of system via Python simulations.Gained extensive practise communicating results and future work to peers and supervisors via oral slidedeck presentations through research group meetings and graduate course projects.

Research Assistant

Planned and ran tutorial and laboratory sessions for groups (~25) of undergraduates taking physics courses at U of T. Held office hours for one-on-one assistance, so as to provide a more in-depth understanding of course material. - TRIUMF Undergraduate Research Lab Assistant working on Solar Neutrino and Double Beta Decay Experiment (SNO+)· Lab Work: Assisted in construction and testing of umbilicals, used to deploy sources in Acrylic Vessel (AV). Assembled and tested proof ofconcept prototype arm extension. Tested side rope behaviour when tensioning and de-tensioning.· Ran particle physics (Monte Carlo) simulations in RAT (GEANT4), performed minor analysis using ROOT. Added code to provide minor extensions to time generator.
